To blog or not to blog?

I started this blog a while back, it seems like it never really caught on.  I'm not sure if it's because I forgot all about it or if I gave up before even trying.  It seems like even though I love to paint and I FELT like that's was my thing I just don't feel it now like I did then.  Recently my new hobby has been collecting American Girl dolls, playing dress up and enjoying other silly girly things with my two daughters, now seven and three.

Playing with dolls you say?  Make believe and pearls to lunch?  Singing along my little pony while pretending to earn our wings ( side note: too much sharing for a first post?!? lol) yes, yes to all those crazy things !  I know it may be different but I'm a stay at home mom (and a kid at heart), why not enjoy what my kids enjoy?  To put it out there,  while I may enjoy a good tea party or making hay bales for the girl's fake horses, I have yet to slip into the " but they're real to me" reality.  I know this isn't a Disney movie, our toys aren't alive and relishing a good play day.

If you're a parent ( aunt, uncle,  an older sibling or maybe a family friend) you've been there, the days where you do nothing but make believe with your kids.  The days where you pretend that bubbles are really a freak blizzard, the floor is hot lava or a doll is a dear friend in need of a good fashion make over and a dazzling cup of tea.  If you can imagine the joys my girls and I share playing with our dolls, making crafts for our family/friends or how waif like one can look after being a playmate to a three year old, then let's be friends!  Let's share our joys and frustrations and maybe laugh at the fact that yes, we are grown adults that not always share our toys.  Hopefully this blog go- round sticks.  Hopefully we can have some fun beings kids with our kids.  And maybe, just maybe.....we'll share our toys.

So I may not have any followers yet, I hope to one day.  The monologue will be here to let everyone know that I am a flake who started a blog about painting furniture but gave up before she really started.  But in giving up I gave myself a chance, a chance at some good silly fun with my kids, their dolls and a chance to make some new friends.

The end, night night!

Farm house style table.

It's been a while since my last post, I just started this blog and I am already slacking off lol.   I am working on getting the place together and decorated (we've already been here 6months lol), since my budget is tight I decided to work on what I had.

I had an old beat up table sitting in my small eat it kitchen, it was dinged and wobbly but still solid construction.  After what seemed like forever I managed to get through the 30 million layers or varnish and I was ready to paint.  I decided I wanted to attempt a two tone paint on top with a quatrefoil runner, I am HORRIBLE at stenciling but I though I'd give it a go.  I chose a nice robins egg blue by Better Homes and Gardens ( Wal Mart) and clean linen white by Behr (Home Depot), I decided to mix the two and make a softer blue to go between the white and robin's egg on the runner.  I still need to paint my chairs and get start on some new seat cushions but I am getting there!  My kitchen floor did recover from that weekend, rest assured! My table didn't turn out perfect (my projects rarely do lol) but I do love it.  I am still learning to paint and re-purpose furniture but I am proud of the out come and there are many more projects to come!

P.S. Please ignore the trash, my husband was banned from the kitchen until my table was dry.

Still awake, glued to Pintrest.

I really should go to bed but I can't because Pintrest is just so darn interesting!  In case you've been busy with something silly like work or maybe having a life (unlike myself haha) and have not heard of Pintrest let me break it down for you.  Say you're like me and you have bagillion (made up that amount for dramatics) bookmarks on home screen and you're worried about your computer.  Well what if one day your computer just exploded and all your precious book marks vanished!  Oh no, how will I go on?!?  Well if you used Pintrest they'd be safe on a virtual pin board, neat huh?  All your pins can be placed on a board, you can name those boards anything you please.   Example of some board you may be into- "tasty cheese", "purple socks", "how to wash puppies".  Or whatever loveliness you are into!  If you like it, love it or want to make it just pin it onto your board and then look it up whenever you please.  Woohoo!

You can surf pintrest to find new bits of information to "repin", you can even follow someone elses board and check out all the funky fun stuff they are into!  If you have a chance you should really check it out.  I'm not in any way affiliated with Pintrest but I am a pinning junky!  I have to thank the website for some great projects I have been tackling and for also helping me tick away the hours on the PC.  If I could only get the site to wash my dishes and make diner, I would be in love!

Up and going!

This is my first blog post...ever!  I have never subscribed or really even read a blog until this last year, can you believe that?  So...here we go!

Hi, my name is Dawn, I am married to a wonderful man, Greg and a stay at home mom to two wonderful little girlies .  Gracelynn is 5 and such a amazing kid, she is a strong, loving, willful and extremely brave little girl.  She loves Yo Gabba Gabba, Barbies, dolls and relaxing with a fun book. Delaney, my littlest, is 1.   She really keeps me guessing, she's a sharp one!  She is sweet, loving and such a ball to be around.  She loves animals, running around, climbing furniture and pestering her big sister.

The kiddos really keep me on my toes, it seems like I am always picking up toys, running errands or picking some junk off the floor.  When I do manage to get some free time I love to stop at thrift stores, goodwill or even a random yardsale for a second hand gem that might make our home sparkle.  I love all things crafts, I enjoy painting and repurpose furniture and even reusing every objects  to make new accessories for the house.

I really hope to have a good time writing and sharing this blog, you see over time that I am a bit nutty but hey that's what makes me fun!  My life isn't perfect.  Far from it. In fact sometimes,  sometimes I wonder how I even function day to day.  Haha, but really,  I love it all I wouldn't trade it for the world!  Now matter how you drag your feet life is going to happen, why not make it colorful and get a little paint on your toes!
